Firm Overview

The Brunson Law Firm, PLLC is located in Durham, North Carolina. We have found that well informed clients are the best to work with and that they are happier with the legal process at the conclusion of their matter. Therefore, we encourage clients to communicate and ask questions and our attorneys are accessible to respond promptly with our advice. We are also very thorough in our initial consultation to let clients know what to expect prior to engaging our office.

In our real estate division it has long been our motto that we’re “The Last Stop on Your Way Home”. While “home” can refer to a physical structure, we understand that the concept of home is broader. It can include a place of refuge and safety, where the things and people that one loves become the focus.

For this reason, our firm has adopted the same motto and extended it to the areas of immigration, estate planning and administration, child custody/guardianship matters, and tenant based representation in landlord/tenant law. We continue to practice residential real estate which includes purchases, refinances, equity lines, deed preparation, homeowner assistance with foreclosure relief and more.

Our firm is committed to providing information to the local community through presenting first time homebuyer workshops, immigration informational forums, and training for new Realtors, to name a few.

We also support local charitable organizations, specifically a homeless feeding ministry which provides clothing, food, and resources to the disenfranchised.

Laura Grimaldi
laura@brunsonrep.com

Laura Grimaldi recently relocated to Durham from Brooklyn, New York, where she was a public defender with the Legal Aid Society.

Ms. Grimaldi has a longstanding dedication to social justice and working with the immigrant community. She spent the last half of her legal education working in The University of Iowa Clinical Law Programs. There, she worked primarily in the Immigration Section where she represented clients seeking asylum, work authorization, adjustment of status, permanent residency, and family visas. Upon graduation she worked as a volunteer with Legal Aid’s Immigration Division in New York City, helping a client who was in removal proceedings. As a public defender, she represented indigent criminal defendants from arraignment through the disposition of their cases. A large number of her clients were non-citizens, and Ms. Grimaldi worked to shield them from the immigration consequences of their arrests.

North Carolina in general, and the Triangle area in particular, has a large and ever-growing foreign-born population. Laura Grimaldi is dedicated to providing the competent, responsible, and respectful service her clients deserve.

Laura Grimaldi graduated with honors from The University of Iowa College of Law in 2002.
